Hallo,
folgendes Problem.
Ich nutze bereits iDVD 08 bereits schon unter leopard.-keine problem.
Nachdem Snow Leo rauskam, gabs soweit auch keine Problem.
Neulich musste ich mein Macbook aus Hardware-Reperatur-gründen platt machen.
Und nachdem kompletten neu aufspielen, der OS, runterladen & installieren aller updates....merke ich das iDVD 08 nicht mehr funktioniert.

Spezifikationen :
iDVD ´08 Version 7.0.4
Mac OS X 10.6.2
Macbook 2.2Ghz Dual Core 2 Duo
late 2007

Problembeschreibung:
nachdem idvd gestartet wird, fragt es ob man ein neues projekt anlegen will (bzw. neues Projekt öffnen will.
egal welche Funktion man auswählt , iDVD versagt den Dienst und friert ein und kann nur noch über sofort beenden zum schließen gewzwungen werden.

bereits erfolgte schritte:
-löschen bzw neuinstallieren des programms
-zugriffsrechte des Volumes repariert
-idvd library ordner gelöscht
-email an Apple - iDVD - Feedback

nichts hat leider funktioniert

mittlerweile habe ich auch rausgefunden das nicht nur ich betroffen bin....

Hat jemand zufällig eine Idee? Ich hoffe nicht, dasss man da gezwungen werden soll, neuere Software zu kaufen

so ich hab die lösung!
hört sich eigentlich total simpel an.Die lösung liegt in der neuinstallation von snow leo.
aber keine formatierung der festplatte.
Snow leo DVD einlegen, auf installieren klicken und quasi SL über das aktuelle system installieren.
(alle einstellungen , adressbücher usw. bleiben ehralten( besser aber vorher DATEN SICHERN!!!!)
mac organsiert scheinbar alles mal neu. und dann klappts auch :-))

ja dann alle updates runterladen und installieren via softewareupdate.
und dann klappt iDVD 08 :-) zumindets bei mir :-) ich hoffe das hilft jemandem!

I have found the solution!! No thanks to Apple... First, and I'm not sure if this part was necessary, I reinstalled Snow Leopard, without formatting my drive. If you just tell it to install, and choose your hard drive, it won't delete any of your personal files, it will just replace all of the operating system files. Again, not sure if it was necessary, but after the reinstall I was at least able to open iDVD long enough to get a useful crash report.

Important side note -- reinstalling Snow Leopard made iMovie 08 work correctly for me again, i.e. transitions and titles now work without crashing the program. (I do NOT think this would work if you reformatted your hard drive...I think it's a matter of replacing/upgrading operating system files that may have been overwritten with earlier versions by iLife if you do a clean install).

HERE'S THE MAIN SOLUTION: Download and install the plugin manager 1.7.3 update, which you can get here:

After doing this, I was able to run iDVD normally with no crashes!

I found this out by noting that the crash report referred to a KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE, which apparently is also a problem in Aperture -- I found the solution on this page: http://discussions.apple.com/thread....rt=15&tstart=0

I hope this solves the issue for others as well! I would try the plugin manager update first, and if that doesn't work, only then do the reinstall. I would back up your data first before doing a reinstall, even though it's not supposed to overwrite any of your personal data, just to be sure.
